Yevshan Ukrainian Folk Ballet Ensemble Auditions
The Yevshan Ukrainian Folk Ballet Ensemble was created in 1960 with the goal of "preserving, interpreting and expressing historical and contemporary Ukrainian cultural values for public enjoyment through technical and artistic excellence in the art form of dance".
Dancers MUST be at least 15 years of age at the time of the audition.
You must be committed to rehearsing three times per week and have an extensive knowledge of Ukrainian dance and at least some comprehension of ballet. Travel to performances across western Canada is also required.

Ukrainian Dance Costumes by Paul Paul Olijnyk is currently a Ukrainian dance teacher in Alberta, as well as a performer with the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers. Paul holds a bachelor of Fine Arts Honours Degree from York University and is currently completing his Master of Arts Degree, in Ukrainian Folklore, at the University of Alberta. Complimenting his studies, Paul regularly travels to Ukraine to research folklore, Ukrainian dance, and folk dance costuming. During these visits Paul has formed a fantastic and talented team of costume designers, seamstresses, and boot makers. Paul’s passion for Ukrainian culture streams directly into his work with Ukrainian dance costumes. His experience as a dancer, dance teacher, and choreographer provide a unique insider perspective into costume creation.

Tanets Costuming Tamara Tatuch graduated from the Kyiv National University of Culture & Arts and is a professional Ukrainian dance instructor and choreographer. She also holds a BA in Political Science International Relations from the University of Alberta. Through her comapny Premiere Ukraine Tours, she has organized over 40 performance tours into Ukraine. Altanets' is a series of week-long summer dance workshops which provide dance instruction from qualified professionals who have studied Ukrainian Dance at educational institutions around the world! AUDA provides students of all levels, the opportunity to educate themselves with various regions and styles under quality instruction. Students will complete our workshops inspired to dance with improved technique and a better understanding of the art form of Ukrainian dance.

Shumka's Summer Dance Camps offer a way for dancers to maintain and improve their skills over the summer. Red Boot Camp is a different kind of Ukrainian dance camp! It is an intense dance experience for the serious Ukrainian dancer who loves to dance and isn’t afraid to work, sweat and learn! You will dance 6-9 hours per day while surrounded by scenic nature at Camp Bar-V-Nok at Pigeon Lake, Alberta. At Red Boot Camp you will know what it means to love Ukrainian Dance. You will think about why you Ukrainian dance and develop an understanding of the importance of Ukrainian dance in your life! You will find a connection between Ukrainian culture and Ukrainian dance in a way that will enrich your dance experience. But only a limited amount of students will have the opportunity to experience Red Boot Camp as we keep the numbers low and focus on an intimate high quality dance experience.

UCC-SPC COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FUND The Ukrainian Canadian Congress - Saskatchewan Provincial Council established the Community Development Fund (CDF) to enable groups, individuals and nonprofit organizations to undertake projects/activities in support of the development of Saskatchewan’s Ukrainian cultural identity, which meet community needs as well as UCC-SPC objectives.
Program Objectives To assist the development of a strong and dynamic Ukrainian community in Saskatchewan; To raise the organizational expertise of Ukrainian groups and individuals in Saskatchewan; To encourage cooperation and contact between Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian organizations, groups and individuals within Saskatchewan and beyond; To ensure opportunities for cultural, educational and community growth of Saskatchewan’s Ukrainian population; To raise the profile of Saskatchewan’s Ukrainian community in the province and the world thereby showcasing its richness and dynamism.

Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of Taras Shevchenko The Shevchenko Foundation is a national, chartered philanthropic institution providing leadership by building and nurturing a permanent endowment fund dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Ukrainian Canadian cultural heritage and the advancement of a flourishing Ukrainian community for the enrichment of Canada. The Shevchenko Foundation has been awarding grants in support of Ukrainian cultural projects since its inception in 1963.
Grants Program The Ukrainian Canadian Foundation of Taras Shevchenko (Shevchenko Foundation) fulfills its mandate by disbursing grants to organizations, groups and individuals in support of Ukrainian Canadian cultural development. Applicants should note that grants are allocated within a framework of specific criteria and specific disciplines.

The Alberta Ukrainian Dance Association continues to develop resources for the Ukrainian Dance Community, including a new series of instructor resources. These DVDs include interviews, rehearsals and teaching demonstrations from regional groups in Ukraine. The regions currently presented in the series include: Transcarpathian, Precarpathian (Hutsul), Volyn, Kuban and Pollissian. AUDA has also produced regionally appropriate music to support the DVD materials.
One of the regions that they have been developing is the Kuban Region of Ukraine. With two new music pieces, instructional video from Ukraine, and video segments describing how to create Kuban regional dances that have authentic steps. The module is hoped to be completed for Summer 2012.

CANADIAN UKRAINIAN DANCE ACADEMY - CUDA
The Canadian Ukrainian Dance Academy is a teaching and learning arm of the Alberta Ukrainian Dance Association. The intent is to develop and deliver Ukrainian Dance resources directly to the Ukrainian Dance community using the capability of the internet to deliver courses, video and music resources. It was formed as a response to the need for Ukrainian dance resources that will continue to support the growth of instructor capacity for teaching Ukrainian dance in Canada.

Named after the signature Ukrainian folk dance, the DVD is in both English and Ukrainian and serves as an effective, present-day teaching and learning tool.
The DVD features professional dancers from Ukraine demonstrating steps and technique from various regions to musical accompaniment. Included are explanations on the origins of the presented steps, as well as an ethnographic map of Ukraine to better demonstrate the regional geography.
