Part-time Immigration Services Coordinator

Job Description:

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress -- Saskatoon Branch is seeking a person to assume the role of Part-time Immigration Services Coordinator. This position will assist the volunteer Standing Committee on Immigration with a variety of development strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Good communication and public relations skills
  • Excellent telephone manners
  • Motivated, accurate and self-directed work ethic
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of filing and other office procedures
  • Good communication skills in both English and Ukrainian
  • Driver’s licence

Responsibilities:

  • Receive telephone calls and take messages to pass on to appropriate committee members/coordinators.
  • Act as information liaison for new Ukrainian immigrants on issues regarding settlement such as city orientation, transportation, accommodations, schools, ESL and other areas as identified by the UCC Saskatoon immigration committee.
  • Develop and maintain accurate spreadsheet records.
  • Respond to e-mail messages and circulate information via e-mail.
  • Input data related to ESL classes.
  • Input data related to acquisition and distribution of household furniture and other items.
  • Work with UCC Saskatoon Immigration Committee members on items related to welcoming, integration and retention programming.
  • Provide activity reports to UCC Saskatoon Immigration committee meetings.
  • Work on projects as undertaken by UCC-SB Standing Committee on Immigration.
  • Involvement in the preparation of a funding proposal for a twelve-month period following this three-month pilot project.
  • Act as a liaison between the UCC-Saskatoon branch and Saskatoon businesses with Ukrainian immigrant workers as well as an information resource for certain settlement areas including accommodations

Administrative Details:

Hours of work Monday to Friday (0900 -1200) or (1300 - 1700) during the period June 04, 2007 to August 31, 2007. This position is likely to develop into full-time work.
