Testimonial Dinner to honour former Prime Minister of Canada,
the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney
April
3, 2007 -- UCC National is working in partnership with
the Ukrainian Embassy in Canada to plan a Testimonial Dinner in
honour of former Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Honourable
Brian Mulroney. The event is being organized to pay tribute to Mr.
Mulroney, who was the Prime Minister when Canada officially recognized
Ukraine following its proclamation of Independence in August 2001.
The highlights of the event will be the presentations of the Order
of Kniaz Yaroslav Mudryi which was decreed by President Yushchenko,
and will be presented by Ambassador Ihor Ostash and the Ukrainian
Canadian Congress Taras Shevchenko Medal presented by Orysia Sushko.
In this 15th year of Ukraine's Independence, Canada's recognition
continues to be highly regarded by all Canadians of Ukrainian descent
as well as the citizens of Ukraine. It is, therefore, of prime importance
that we indicate our appreciation to former Prime Minister Mulroney
for his leadership during this historic time. It is also important
to remember that while in office, Mr. Mulroney appointed Saskatchewan-born
Ukrainian Canadians, John Sopinka, to the Supreme Court of Canada
and Ramon Hnatyshyn as Governor General of Canada.
The banquet is scheduled to take place in Ottawa at the Chateau
Laurier Hotel on Wednesday, April 18th. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress
is pleased to announce that one of our responsibilities will be
the distribution of tickets to the event, which are priced at $150.
In order to provide everyone with the opportunity of securing tickets
for their constituents, please place your orders by calling the
UCC Headquarters in Winnipeg at 1-866-942-4627 or by e-mail at ucc@ucc.ca.
Tickets must be reserved by April 10th, 2007.
Conversely our office will be following up on this letter by telephone
to assure that everyone is availed the opportunity of attending
this gala event.
If you require further information please contact our Executive
Director, Ostap Skrypnyk, at the UCC office in Winnipeg.
