2011 UCC-SPC Spring Conference, Annual General Meeting and Board Elections

Saturday, 12 March 2011, Saskatoon

The 2011 UCC-SPC Annual General Meeting & Board Elections will take place on Saturday, 12 March 2011 at St George’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish Hall (1236 20th Street West, Saskatoon). The meeting will start at 12 noon, lunch will be provided. Each UCC-SPC member organization is encouraged to send a representative. A full list of UCC-SPC members is available at www.ucc.sk.ca

This year’s AGM will also include elections to the UCC-SPC Board of Directors. Eight positions are up for election to a two-year term: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and four Directors-at-Large.

Spring Conference

Dancing a Common Kolomeyka Ukrainian Dance Conference (Saturday, 12 March, Saskatoon)

This one-day conference follows up on the Let’s Talk Ukrainian Dance Roundtable. Participants will hear and discuss the report of the UCC-SPC Dance Consultant Sonya Horner based on work of the past few months. Sessions will also include presentations on:

• Funding Opportunities
• new Dance Resources
• the Alberta Ukrainian Dance Association, and
• the new Academy of Ukrainian Dance project.

This gathering of representatives of Saskatchewan’s Ukrainian dance community will take place at St George’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish Hall (1236 20th Street West) in Saskatoon beginning at 9.30 AM.

Workshop for Oral Interpretation (Sat. 12 March, Saskatoon)

In an effort to further increase the number of qualified individuals able to providing Ukrainian to English and/or English to Ukrainian oral interpretation services, the UCC-SPC is sponsoring a one-day workshop focusing on oral interpretation. UCC-SPC Translation and Interpretation Coordinator George Zerebecky will facilitate. The workshop will provide practical experience in oral translation as well as an overview of relevant policies and procedures.

The workshop will take place at St George’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish Hall (1236 20th Street West, Saskatoon) beginning at 9.30 AM.
