"Obzhynky" A Ukrainian Harvest Festival

October 11, 2005 -- Regina’s Ukrainian community will celebrate Obzhynky on Saturday, October 15, 2005.

Obzhynky centers around the end of the harvest with the harvesters arriving at the home of the Hospodar where they will celebrate a successful harvest with song, music, dance and a feast. Performing the harvest ritual at Obzhynky will be Regina Ukrainian Dance Ensemble and Regina Ukrainian Folk Choir. A wonderful Ukrainian meal will be followed by dance performances by Tavria and Regina Ukrainian Dance Ensemble and everyone can join in and dance to "TYT I TAM", Saskatchewan’s finest Ukrainian band composed of 5 extremely talented young musicians from Saskatoon. A midnight lunch will be served.

The evening will take place at the Ukrainian Orthodox Auditorium, 1625 Montreal Street commencing at 5:00PM. Tickets are $30 for dinner, the performances and the dance. You can also purchase tickets for the dance by itself for $15.

Proceeds from this event will be directed to the expansion project at the Ukrainian Science Park located at Regina’s Science Centre.

For tickets and/or more information, please contact Myron at 306-761-0130. Tickets can also be purchased at the Ukrainian Coop, 1805 Winnipeg St.
