Employment opportunity at UCC National

May 5, 2006 -- The Ukrainian Canadian Congress is searching for a programming assistant to work at its Winnipeg Head Office .

Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate would coordinate and oversee administrative and programming duties including the provision of varied and complex office duties; program development and execution, communications and support of UCC Board and its committees.

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress is a non-profit community organization that represents the interest of the Ukrainian Canadian community both in Canada and in Ukraine. With branches and member organizations throughout Canada, the UCC offers an exciting opportunity for professional development while making a positive impact on Ukrainian Canadian community life. The successful candidate will have an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and constantly changing work atmosphere with a national and international scope by providing support to community advocacy and community development projects.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Ukrainian Canadian organized community life and the Ukrainian cultural experience in Canada;
  • Ability to develop innovative and practical solutions to community-based challenges.
  • Knowledge of Federal government organizational structure and functioning;
  • Exemplary client satisfaction skills, including dealing effectively with the public, UCC volunteers and UCC staff, both in person and over the telephone;
  • Commitment to teamwork and developing consensus;
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and balance conflicting priorities;
  • Proper English and Ukrainian language usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation;
  • Computer applications related to the work (MS Office).

Education and Experience:

The successful candidate would hold a Bachelor's degree in a field related to community development, Ukrainian studies or business/public administration and three years of office administrative, supervisory or lead experience in the area of community development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
