On Saturday 10th of February a meeting was held in Toronto with representatives from across Canada who reconfirmed the community’s position on redress and the appropriate commemorative and education initiatives needed to honour the memory of the internees.

Speaking after the meeting, Paul Grod, VP Ukrainian Canadian Congress said “We are grateful to Mr. Kenney for moving this matter forward. We have sent him a letter in advance of our meeting outlining the community’s position on redress. Therefore, we expect to have a frank and open dialogue that will lead to a timely and honourable settlement embodying the principles of justice exemplified in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.”
