Canadian First World War Internment Recognition Fund

Winnipeg, Manitoba-September 14, 2009 -- The official media campaign announcing the Canadian First World War Internment Recognition Fund (CWWWIRF) began on Saturday with an article in the Globe and Mail. Coinciding with the announcement is the launching of a dedicated website for this causeworthy Fund. Similar articles will soon be seen in other mainstream newspapers and the ethnic press. Posters advertising the Fund are also now being distributed across Canada and will be seen in libraries, universities, and other public venues.

The CFWWIRF's objective is to support projects that commemorate and recognize the experiences of ethno-cultural communities affected by the First World War Internment, using only the interest earned by the Endowment Fund. For more information including the application and guidelines for the program go to the newly created website at www.internmentcanada.ca.

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress would like to ensure that all groups and organizations within the Ukrainian Canadian community are aware of this fund and encourage them to develop projects and apply for funding.
