Congress - Saskatchewan Provincial Council (UCC-SPC), the
Saskatchewan Ukrainian Historical Society (SUHS) will launch
a new Saskatchewan travel guide at its genealogy conference

Regina "In Baba's Trunk" conference focuses on family tree research

The Saskatchewan Ukrainian
Historical Society's "In Baba's Trunk" conference
is being held in Regina at the Ukrainian National Federation
Hall (1731
St. John St) on Saturday, November 13, 2004. The sessions at
"In Baba's
Trunk" will focus on researching your family tree in Canada
and in Ukraine.
The day begins at 8:30 am and will end with a tour of the
Saskatchewan Genealogical Society library at 4:30 pm. There
are four sessions:
- It Started With a Plough: early settlement
patterns in Saskatchewan,
- Where in the World Did We Come From?:
the history of the changing borders in present day Ukraine,
- The Papers in Baba's Trunk: utilizing
research resources in Canada, and
- Pack the Trunk, We're Going to Ukraine:
utilizing research resources and traveling to Ukraine to
research.

Documenting the past: Ukrainians preserve ties to their
heritage
During the early days of Canadian
immigration, Ukrainians figured prominently among the thousands
of people who settled in Saskatchewan. They came with a few
possessions, little money, but high hopes for a better future.

“In Baba’s Trunk” is off to Regina

The Saskatchewan Ukrainian Historical
Society is busy planning the next visit of “In Baba’s Trunk”
to Regina. SUHS and the trunk will be in Regina on Saturday,
November 13 at the Ukrainian National Federation Hall. For
this visit to Regina, SUHS, the Regina Ukrainian Canadian
Professional & Business Association and the Saskatchewan
Genealogical Society are working together and expanding on
the May session, “Your Family Tree”. Details |

Cost of genealogical photocopy rises
Saskatchewan Vital Statistics has announced that effective
July 1, 2004, genealogical photocopies will increase from $25 to
