Nation Builders & Community Recognition Awards Luncheon

(Saskatoon) This year marks the twelfth year that the Ukrainian
Canadian community of Saskatchewan, under the auspices of the Ukrainian
Canadian Congress - Saskatchewan Provincial Council (UCC-SPC), will
be celebrating the accomplishments and distinguished contributions
of some of its notable citizens.
The 2006 Nation Builder & Community Recognition Awards will
be presented to the honourees on Sunday, November 5th at a luncheon
to be held at the Delta Bessborough Hotel in Saskatoon.
Nation Builders Awards are presented to persons who have, without
reward or gain, made meritorious contributions which have had a
significant impact; left a legacy; and/or provided an exemplary
role model to the Ukrainian community and/or Saskatchewan-Canada.
Recipients of the 2006 Nation Builders Awards are:

Dr. Lorne A. Babiuk (Canora-Saskatoon):
international authority in veterinary virology and immunology,
distinguished researcher, mentor, university professor |

Anne Mary Buchko (d) (Goodeve-Ituna):
educator, church & community leader, champion of the
Ukrainian community, volunteer, mentor, coach, organiser, artisan |

Sr. Theodosia (Theresa Papirnik) (Edmonton-Saskatoon):
spiritual advisor, leader, humanitarian, visionary, administrator,
writer, advocate, volunteer, champion of human rights |

Brigadier General Joseph Romanow (Saskatoon-Ottawa):
leader, decorated serviceman, author, lecturer, role model,
community volunteer and activist |
Community Recognition Awards are presented to persons who have
made meritorious contributions in one or more of the areas of youth
achievement; leadership; volunteerism;
cultural preservation & development;
and/or creativity & innovation to the
Ukrainian community and/or Saskatchewan-Canada. Recipients of the 2006 Community Recognition Awards are:

Anita Drebot (Sudbury-Regina):

resource in areas of Ukrainian culture, language and traditions |

areas of Ukrainian language and folk-arts, church activist,

Evelyn Darlene Hull (Willowbrook):

model, active in preserving and developing Ukrainian culture

Sophia Nahachewsky (Prince Albert):
