Employment Opportunity at UCC Saskatoon:
ESL Instructors Required

March 15, 2010 -- The Ukrainian Canadian Congress - Saskatoon Branch, Inc. has immediate openings for qualified ESL Instructors to plan and deliver English as a Second or Additional Language classes to newcomers to Saskatoon.

Nature of Work:

Under the direction of the ESL Coordinator, instructors will use the functional/communicative approach of English language instruction to assist eligible clients gain the necessary English language skills to communicate effectively in their day-to-day interactions with others in the community.

Accountabilities:

  • Instruct learners in ESL, including cultural and settlement information, on a weekly basis;
  • Establish a curriculum that reflects Canadian Language Benchmarks 1 – 4;
  • Facilitate interaction between immigrants and other ethno-cultural groups including First Nations and Métis people;
  • Lesson plan;
  • Monitor and report attendance;
  • Evaluate learners’ progress on an on-going basis;
  • Participate in professional development initiatives;
  • Provide appropriate feedback and evaluation.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, TESL or related certification, overseas teaching experience, or equivalent combination. Knowledge of an additional language other than English is considered an asset.
